There’s an Amazing Park Near You

That’s true for 81% of Dallas residents who live within a ten-minute walk of a park. According to the Trust for Public Land’s 2025 ParkScore report, 10% of land in Dallas is reserved for parks and recreation, with 636 parks across the city. It’s partly why Dallas ranks high on ParkScore’s national list.

Even the Parks Are Bigger in Texas

Proximity to a park can increase a home’s value by up to 20%. The bigger the park, the higher your home’s value may rise. Here are some Dallas parks that stand out for their size and amenities.

Great Trinity Forest. Shift from a metropolis to deep woodlands in minutes. That’s Great Trinity Forest, one of the largest urban forests in the country. The 6,000-acre retreat in southern Dallas is surrounded by welcoming neighborhoods, including Piedmont, McCommas Bluff, Fruitdale, Woodlawn, and Sunny Acres.

White Rock Lake Park. Spanning over 1,000 acres with a large lake, White Rock Lake Park is over twice the size of New York City’s Central Park. The oasis is just five miles from downtown Dallas, close to Lakewood, Lake Highlands, Claremont, Hillridge, and Casa Linda.

Fair Park. One of the city’s most social green spots, Fair Park has performance spaces, museums, the Texas Discovery Gardens, and the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Just two miles east of downtown Dallas. The neighborhoods of South Dallas, Highland Park, and University Park are nearby.

Carpenter Park. This getaway, on the eastern edge of downtown Dallas, is the cities largest downtown park. With gardens, walking paths, dog-friendly areas, sculptures, and an interactive fountain, Carpenter Park is an urban gem close to the Arts District, the Reunion District, and Deep Ellum.

Trammell Crow Park. A riverside haven with the Dallas skyline as its backdrop, Trammell Crow Park runs from Irving in the west to downtown Dallas in the east. Locals enjoy its miles of lawns and trails along the Trinity River. Nearby neighborhoods include Lakewood Heights, Preston Hollow, Lower Greenville, and Uptown.
